BIOGRAPHY

Gaspare Manos is an artist who has absorbed and metabolized the diverse and contrasting experiences of the places he lived and operated in. Italian, born in Bangkok in 1968, he has studied and worked in several countries and continents: from Nairobi, Geneva and Athens to London, Paris, Brussels and Venice.

Multilingual, with a PhD from the London School of Economics, Gaspare has a fresh and participatory outlook on the complex modern world. His daily practice of drawing and painting has produced a vast number of works on paper, canvas and other supports (nearly 4000 to date) that the Gaspare Foundation is in the process of cataloging.

Gaspare’s obsessive study of old masters, as well as personal contact with some of the greatest living artists, allow him to attack the canvas with authority and controlled use of materials to create a fresh, very personal and distinctive world of great depth and light. His works have echoes of classic and modern themes with a net refusal of trends. Gaspare turns his back on the abstract decorative, the obsessively repetitive and the gratouitously shocking to take the viewer along with him into a voyage of discovery into the essential underpinnings of the complex contemporary world.

His works are found in private and corporate collections in the EU, Asia and the USA.

The artist works, alternating between London and Venice.

Gaspare Manos è un artista che ha assorbito e metabolizzato le diverse e contrastanti esperienze maturate nei luoghi in cui ha vissuto. Italiano, nato nel 1968 a Bangkok, ha studiato e lavorato in molte città in diversi continenti, da Nairobi, Ginevra, Atene e Londra, a Parigi, Bruxelles e Venezia. Multilingue, PhD della London School of Economics, Gaspare posa uno sguardo fresco e partecipe sul complesso mondo moderno.

Lo studio approfondito degli antichi maestri e la frequentazione di alcuni tra i maggiori artisti viventi consente a Gaspare di aggredire con grande sicurezza la tela in modo grafﬁante, con economia di materia, creando un mondo proprio di grande profondità e luce. Con rivisitazioni dal classico al moderno, un netto riﬁuto del decorativo astratto, del ripetitivo ossessivo, dello scioccante gratuito ma efﬁmero, Gaspare accompagna l’osservatore in un viaggio che mira all’essenziale.

La Gaspare Foundation è in procinto di catalogare la sua ricca produzione artistica, costituita da oltre 4000 opere su carta, tela ed altri supporti. Le sue opere si trovano in collezioni private ed istituzionali in Europa, Asia ed America.

L’artista vive ed opera tra Londra e Venezia.
